This Little Piggie went to the Bayou!

Pig Fest in the Hood
We have lived in the Hood for 12 years this month and have loved every moment it.  The Hoodies are awesome and no excuse is too small to have a party.  We ended up with a whole pig last week and thought it was the perfect reason to have a second Hood Fest  this year.  The annual Hood Fest is held every fall.  So the invites were sent, dishes to bring coordinated, large BBQ grill was delivered yesterday and the pig was freed from Cool Fish this afternoon. Tomorrow is the day and I think we are ready.

We had quite a spread when all was said and done…The Hood has a bunch of wonderful cooks.  Potato salad, baked beans, 3 bean salad, rice and peas, 3 cheese baked penne, veggie trays, pupu platters, roasted rosemary potatoes,  cold marinated asparagus, fresh fruit and can’t forget the great desserts, pineapple upside down cake and blonde brownies.  Thanks guys!!
It was a great evening on the Bayou!!

  1. Holy Moly! That little piggy sure looks tasty and your Hood party sounds like Heaven! The rest of the menu had me drooling too. We bought a pig once, but there was some serious miscommunication between the person ordering it and the person selling it. Let's just say that our pig was this one's older, much larger cousin. That sucker was as big as a great dane and was layed out on it's side like road kill. LOL It came already cooked, which was a good thing. We would have had to start a week in advance and rig up a 10 foot grill, otherwise. We ended up sending out "plates to go" to three city blocks worth of neighbors. We won't be attempting that one again, but I'd come to one of your pig roasts any day!

  2. Thanks Mary, It was very tasty but I think we came to the same conclusion when it comes to roasting a whole pig again...been there, done that, got the t-shirt!! But all the hoodies loved it and are ready to go again. LOL!

  3. Oh wow....the last time I saw a roasted pig like this was at an amusement park where they roast one over an open fire. I've never seen anyone do one at their home. Bet you had a very tasty meal. Thanks for linking up to Your Cozy Home Party.
