On Blue Bayou

Dinner with Lisa on the Dock
A few weeks ago, we were lucky to have our friend  Lisa join us for dinner with her fiancée, John.  Lisa moved to Colorado about 5 years ago and this is the first time we had seen her since she left the beach.  The weather was perfect and dinner on the dock was the only way to entertain our landlocked friend.

Evening started with chilled Spanish cava and a toast to Lisa and her new partner.

The contrast between dark blue and sparkling white always makes me happy and I use this combo often.  Chef Gar is a stickler for serving food on white dinner plates so I can only get a little crazy with the rest!  But he is an awesome cook and I can live with white plates.

One of my favorites, the hydrangea,  was blooming nicely and made a simple and delightful center piece.

Life is good on the bayou!  Wrinkled table cloth and all!

I love this little guy.  Great for appetizers or all the goodies for pan tomaquita.  Chef Gar did a country paella for dinner.  So busy talking I forgot to get any pixs of dinner. It was great!
Till next time….Santé,

  7. Your table looks wonderful, food does look good on white plates but I love pattern too much to use them very often. Love the hydrangeas, mine are just starting to bloom. Fun we both have daughters in NYC...Thanks for stopping, Laura

    1. glad that you enjoyed your visit to the Hood Laura!! My hydrangeas are still blooming and I wish they would last all year. It is wonderful having daughters in NYC. I just love our visits to the city and being able to just enjoy all it has to offer. And the fabric and trim shops up in the garment district are to die for. If I lived in the city, I would spend way too much time and way too much money up there! LOL! Hope you come back soon to the what's happening down here on the Bayou. Shirley

  8. Hi Shirley,
This is my first time to visit, and I have enjoyed it. What a simple yet lovely and elegant looking table.
Loved the colors and the dark and white contrast, very pretty. Also love hydrangeas.....they are just exquisite,
and made a wonderful centerpc. for your table. Simply Beautiful and I am sure your friends love every minute of it. Nothing like white plates to make food look marvelous.......plus I just love white plates, they are just so fresh and clean. Also your lil blue fishy plate is so cute.
Thanks for sharing this lovely table with us,
    blessings, Nellie

  9. Wow....they had those blue stems at Old Time Pottery near you, too? I have never seen them at the one here. There are tons of them at Dollar Tree that lots of people have bought around the country (along with the great green ones), but I had no idea they could be found at OTP, too! I wish they would come out with pink and purple ones next year! I would buy tons of them!!!!!!! :-) Your table setting is perfect for a nice evening on the dock with good wine, excellent food, and lively conversation! Your flowers are so vibrant!!!!!!!

    1. Glad that you stopped by Alycia and I hope that you enjoyed your time in The Hood. I had seen the blue stems at Dollar Tree also but when I went back to get them, they were gone and I kept returning for over 6 months and finally happened upon them at OTP. Do wish they would come out with more shades too! Hope you come back soon to see what is happening down here on the bayou. Shirley
