Vive La France

2012-07-14
I love France and anything French.  In school, I did the 6 years of French and loved every minute of it.  And that fact that my teacher in college was the cutest little Frenchman didn’t hurt!  So we always celebrate Bastille Day.  This year I had this wonderful rouge, blanc and bleu table all planned in my little French mind. But the market had these wonderful sunflowers and that colorful little table just flew out the window.

We were fortunate to be able to spend our 10th wedding anniversary in Europe and we split the time between Italy and France.  I found this fun sunflower table cloth in Grasse, France on one of our little road trips to explore the country side around Cannes.  Knew it would be perfect with my flowers.

The bright, sunny colors remind me of the fields of flowers that are so typical of Provence.

Found these neat two-tone napkins at Pottery Barn a few years ago and I have been saving them for the boat but the colors were perfect for Bastille Day.

A crusty French baguette, escargot and a Nicoise Salad with cedar plank salmon was the perfect meal to celebrate another wonderful Bastille Day.  Merci beaucoup Chef Gar and Bon appetit!

  8. A beautiful tablescape to honor your destination France. You did a great job, I love your layers of dishes, the centerpiece, and everything in this table. How wonderful you lived in France for a time and that you had such a great trip to Italy and France for your 10th. I also adore Italy and been there a couple of times. Lovely.

    1. Fabby, Thank you so much for stopping by the bayou to check out The Hood! Just peaked at your 4th of July table and it was beautiful! As is your daughter. We do love Europe and next winter we are going to be visiting South America for about three months. Chef Gar is retiring and we are going to play for a few months before deciding what retirement will be. Will be visiting Equador so if you have any most see places, I would love to hear. Hope to see you back on The Bayou soon. Shirley

In my view, if all web owners and bloggers made excellent content as you probably did, the net shall be much more helpful than ever before.
